We cordially invite you to the IST Austria workshop on Modern Trends in Solid State Quantum Physics. The workshop aims to achieve an overview on some of the latest developments in solid state quantum physics. Topics include active research areas in solid state physics such as topological insulators, 2D and other nano-materials, nano-photonics, and low temperature physics. The workshop will give an overview on where we are today and what might be expected from future research.

This month two guests visited IST Austria and our lab, Edward Laird from Oxford University and Thomas Watson from TU Delft. From Edward’s talk Sensing with quantum electronic devices: measuring qubits, motion, and time, as well as from informal discussions, we learned a lot about reflectometry. Thomas spoke about A programmable two-qubit quantum processor in silicon and gave us plenty of useful advice and suggestions.
In March our three PhD students participated in German Physical Society Spring Meeting “Dresden 2017″ with contributed talks.
Our brand new cleanroom is officially opening. Looking forward to the fabrication of cool nanodevices!
It is always great to visit Sasha, Arlette and Giorgio at Leiden Cryogenics. We discussed the final details of the CF-CS110 which will be installed before summer at IST Austria. Looking forward to one more great fridge!
Together with Peter Traunmüller and Thomas Adeltzsberger we had the great pleasure to visit Raymond Schouten and his team at QuTech. We learned about the new features of the IVVI, the low noise electronics developed at TU Delft. Raymond and his team demonstrated us also their latest developments. This visit was definitely a source of inspiration.
Join lab tours and “Meet the Research Group” sessions, where you get the opportunity to meet our professors, postdocs and PhD students and ask them about their research. Find out about our PhD program and internship opportunities from the Dean (Prof. Nick Barton) and the PhD Program Chair (Prof. Gasper Tkacik). Take a campus tour to learn more about the founding principles of IST Austria as well as its past and future developments.
